For your Convenience we have answered a few questions that you might have.  If you can't find your question and answer here, contact us, and we will be happy to answer all you questions.

Q.  What oil should I use in my transmission?

A.  This is going to be dependent on the model of transmission and the application, whether it be on-Highway or Off-Highway.  Here is a breakdown.

Model On-Highway Off-Highway
On-Highway Transmissions
     AT 500, MT 600, HT 700, V 700, Dexron-III C-4
     MD, HD, B 300, B 400, B 500 Series or C-4
Off-Highway Transmissions
     CLT, CLBT 750, 5000, 6000, C-4 C-4
     CRT 3/5/6/7000, DP 8000 and
     CLBT 9000 Series
Torque Converters
     Models 300, 400, 500, 800, 900 Series N/A C-4

Q.  How often should I change my oil?

A.  This information will vary dependent on the trasmission and the severity of application.  Generally, the first filter change should occur at 5000 miles and then every 25,000 miles thereafter.

Q.  How can I find out what transmission I have?

A.  The part, serial and model number is stamped on a 2" x 3" tag on the right rear side of the transmission.  The part or serial number will give us all the needed information to correctly identify all parts for your transmission. 

Q.  How much oil does my transmission hold?

A.  If you know what type of transmission you have then click here, if not then find the part number located on your transmission and give us a call

Q.  Can you do factory warranty work?

A.  Yes.  We are a full service Allison Dealer and Recal Station for all Electronic Transmissions of all applications.

Q.  Can I stay in my coach when you are working on it?

A.  We will do everything possible to accomondate you including electrical hook-up whenever possible.

Q.  What products do you sale other that Allison products?

A.  Hayden and Stewart &Warner oil coolers, Morrison Controls, Telma Retarders, True Craft Tools, Stone Bennit Controls, Donaldson Filters and Williams Controls.

Q.  What is a retarder?

A.  A retarder is a secondary braking device used to slow down a vehicle or stationary device.  More information can be found on retarders here.

Q.  Do you sale Exchange Transmissions?

A.  Yes.  We have a extensive inventory of On-Highway and Off-Highway transmissions, both, Exchange and Outright Sales. 

Q.  Do you sale parts?

A.  Yes.  We have New Genuine Allison parts, new surplus, rebuilt and used parts.    Contact us for pricing and availability.

Q.  Where do I ship my core back for credit?

A.  Please ship your core to our Headquarters Division.   When returing cores, put the Return Goods Authorization number we assigned to you on your packing slip.

Q.  What kind of warranty do you offer?

A.  This is the Industrial Automatic Transmission Service, Inc. Warranty Policy.

Q.  What is the mode button?

A.  Both the lever and pushbutton shift selectors have a MODE button.  This button is used to invoke a special function that has been programmed into the ECU.  A label is placed adjacent to the mode button to identify the function associated with a mode change.  The mode status will be indicated on the digital display by lighting MODE ON when the function has been selected.

Q.  How do I check my oil with the the pushbutton shifter, or the lever shifter?

A.  Since this answer is rather extensive, we'll go here, that way you can print this page out for future references.

Q.  I need directions, how do I get to your facility?

A.  Visit our MAP page to get directions.

Q. What would it cost to install a driveline retarder on my motorhome?

A. Current averages are around 5,500 to 6,500. We would need to see the motorhome for a more definative quote.


Q. Why won't the pacbrake work on my motorhome with an AT 545 or AT 542.

A. Neither or these transmissions has provisions for lock-up.


Q. What would it cost to convert my motorhome from a standard to an Allison Automatic Transmission?

A. Converting a motorhome from a standard to an AT or HT series Allison Automatic Transmission would be around 5,000 to 7,000. Converting to HT would be around 10 to 12K. Converting to an MD or HD would be around 15 to 20K. The broad range of price in each catagory is dependent on the desired transmission and the configuration of the motorhome.


Q. Are all of your transmissions Dyno tested?

A. Yes. All of our rebuilt units must pass a rigorous Dyno test and a final inspection prior to shipment or installation onto a vehicle.
